Summer Point System

Everyone must accumulate a MINIMUM amount of points in order to earn a spot in the MIDLO Tennis Program. There is no MAXIMUM!! (WE CHALLENGE YOU TO GET 1400!)
ALL PLAYERS (Incoming Sophmore-Senior) MUST GET AT LEAST 600 POINTS TO BE A PANTHER TENNIS PLAYER.
When accumulating your points, try to be diverse in gaining the points from more than just one or two categories. The purpose of this point system is to improve your ability as a tennis player and competitor, while developing discipline and seeing the value of commitment. Please use A CALENDAR to record the activity and the points attained for that activity on the correct date. A parent signature is needed for each DAY an activity is completed and you write it in on your calendar.
It doesnt matter if you go to group in Cedar Hill Mansfield or wherever it might be. Write it down and you get points.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT POINTS. There is no subsitute for hard work. This is not a mean for controlling you but a tool for you to keep yourself accountable. This is the most detailed way we know how to show you how to improve as a tennis player.
POINTS ARE EARNED AS FOLLOWS:
1.ZAT / Champ/Super, or ITA tournaments 70 + 10 per win*(main)
70 + 5 per win*(consolation)
2.Other Tournaments 55 + 5 per win*(main)
55 + 3 per win*(consolation)
3.Tennis Camp (1 full day of playing-not volunteering) 40 per day
4.Private Lessons 12/ hour
5.Group Lessons 8/ hour
6.Practice (MHS Camp) 8/ hour
7. Match Play 14/pro-set
16/2out of 3, 10pt
18/2 out of 3 full (write opponent’s Name, Score, circle who won) (+1
for every set won)
9. Fitness Training (Camp, w/ Trainer)- minimum 4 weeks @ 1 hour (i.e. Mentzels, yoga, etc.) 100 points per.
10. Jogging/Biking 2/mile
11. Pick up Soccer, Basketball, gym, workout, weights, etc 3/hr
NOTE: (To make min. of 600 or 1250pts You can’t earn more than 200 pts from categories 9-11)
12. Read The Inner Game of Tennis by Timothy Galloway. Read a chapter a week. Write a short summary and meet tuesday in the shed after camp to discuss. 150 points

High School Tennis Program Structure
The top 8 boys and 8 girls will be in Varsity Practice next year. Players 9-16 boys and girls will be in JV Practice. All other players will be put into 6th period tennis.
However, if you are a part of the 1400pt CLUB by earning the 1400pts in the summer you will automatically in 7th. If you are willing to show that you are committed to work hard, whether you are #1 or #31 we want you because you have earned the right to be in the program! We want hard workers in our program!
(Only those who make the top 32 will practice after school and those who don’t will have to play weekly challenge matches outside of school practice time.)

Play any tourney voluntarily you get the next practice day off running
Win a ZAT, Champ, or Super tourney= the week off of running.
